Goal and objectives of the project | Update information on the endangered status of orchid species (categories VU, EN, CR) and propose solutions for their effective conservation in Vietnam. |
Main results | A total of 200 orchid species in Vietnam were assessed as being threatened, consisting of 75 species as Critically Endangered (CR), 74 species as Endangered (EN) and 51 species as Vulnerable (VU). 16 species are included in the Vietnam Red Data Book and the remaining species are new assessements that bring the total of threatened orchids in Vietnam to 252 species; among them 114 species are endemic to Vietnam, 27 species are listed in Group IA and 173 species listed in Group IIA of the Decree 06/2019/ND-CP. |
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | The study provided a list of 200 selected threatened orchid species in Vietnam. This is the new data with high value which is the scientific basis for building a conservation plan by the distribution area. |
