Goal and objectives of the project | - Designing and developing cable climbing robot for remotely monitoring and detecting damage of the suspension bridge cables to ensure the safety of the suspension bridge. Main functions of the cable climbing robot:
- Monitoring the cable surface with a camera to detect the surface damage of cable.
- Measuring the dynamic characteristics of the cable such as amplitude of vibration, frequency of vibration along the length of the cable to evaluate and detect the reduction of tension strength of the cable. |
Main results | - Theoretical results: 01 report of the project’s results. 01 cable climbing robot for remotely monitoring and detecting damage of the suspension bridge cables including 03 camera, 01 vibration transducer, 01 software for remote control and for online signal processing. Contribution to the trainning of 01 PhD.
- Experimental results: The system has ben tested in the Labolatory of the Institute of Mechanics, and has been tested for monitoring Trung Hoa bridge in Tan Lac, Hoa Binh with good results. |
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | - A cable climbing robot and a system of measuring and monitoring suspended bridge cables by vibration method has been designed and manufactored.
- A system for automatically measuring and transfering vibration data between vibration transducer and computer has been developed.
- The signal transferred from the vibration transducer is online proccessed by the developed sofwware installed in the computer and an warning will be given when there is an incident in the structure. |
