Goal and objectives of the project - Completing the process of producing compost from domestic waste at factory scale to create organic fertilizer
- Completing the production process of biological humectants.
Main results
- Theoretical results:
Completing the composting process with good quality and standard as organic fertilizer from domestic waste after sorting and crushing by a mixture of 3 groups of bacteria belonging to genus Bacilllus, actinomycetes belonging to Streptomyces, and thermophilic filamentous fungi such as Thermomyces và Chaetomium and biochar has a large surface area with simple oxygenation;n;
The project isolated and classified 3 strains of bacteria belonging to genera Bacillus and Serratia from arid soils of Vietnam that have the ability to biosynthesize EPS. The project created a process for the production of a bio-humectant with good moisture-retaining activity that changes the physicochemical properties of the soil and has been demonstrated by the trial of growing acacia with the addition of a soil-moisturizing inoculant. The results showed that acacia tree has the ability to grow and develop quickly. When the soil is supplemented with moisture-retaining products, compost and biochar in appropriate proportions, acacia trees grow and develop better, and at the same time, bio-moisturizing products have increased the moisture-holding efficiency of the soil by 30-35% compared to the acacia trees grown in the factory's original land.
- Applied results:
When using a mixture of compost produced from organic waste together with a reasonable ratio of biochar and biological humectants created by the Project, it has opened up a viable and scalable solution in improving the soil fertility in drought areas under the abiotic stress of climatic and physical factors for agricultural production.
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

The project has classified domestic waste to recover organic waste for compost production for agricultural production. Since then, the project has built a composting process from domestic waste with a scale of 50-70 tons/day (35-50 tons of organic waste/day), contributing to agricultural restructuring and building a new village with activities of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, turning waste into an input source for creating high-quality organic fertilizer. By the end of the project, 250 tons of compost were produced to serve the trial of growing acacia seedlings on arid local soil. In addition, the project has also created a process to produce microbial products capable of producing biological moisturizing agents from bacterial strains belonging to 2 genera Bacillus and Serratia isolated in Vietnam. The coordination with groups of microorganisms creates biological humectants to help retain soil moisture, improve soil fertility completely by biological way to ensure organic agricultural production in each stage, especially the breeding stage of industrial plants. Therefore, the project has the ability to compete and realize clean organic production farms.

Recommendations

- Proposing the Institute of Biotechnology and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology to allow the division of assets for mutual benefit. That is 30% of the products created by the Project will be left to the business. The authors are inexperienced because the expenditure and settlement for this type of project is still very new to all managers as well as scientists.
- It is proposed to allow business and scientists apply technology to produce bio-moisturizing products and expand the production scale of microbial products at the factory to supply the market's demand.
