Goal and objectives of the project

General objective:
- Developing a practical toolkit for 3-axis attitude determination and control of satellite with the purpose of supporting space technology training.
Specific objective:
- Developing a practical toolkit for 3-axis attitude control for attitude determination and control subsystem of satellite
- Developing a user's manual and practical documents based on the toolkit for the purpose of supporting space technology training.

Main results

Technological results:
i. Develop a technical solution to change reaction wheels' configurations quickly between pyramidal, tetrahedral and orthogonal types. This is patented solution
ii. Research and develop a toolkit based on the orientation of the simplified model of satellite attitude determination and control simulator, a researched product at the Vietnam National Space Center. The toolkit has compact size, light weight and operates easily.
iii. Design and manufacture a spherical air-bearing in Vietnam. This is the premise for mastering the technology of this product.
-    Theoretical results: The toolkit is the knowledge verification of satellite attitude determination and control, including theoretical aspect and accumulated experience from previous research activities. At the same time, there are some practice exercises to allow users to learn about the knowledge of satellite attitude determination and control.
Applied results: The toolkit is applied for satellite attitude determination and control in space technology training.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Proposed a patented solution to change reaction wheels' configurations quickly.
- Initially mastering the technology of the spherical air-bearing.

-    Technological products (describe in details: technical characteristics, place):
i. One practical toolkit for attitude determination and control of satellite, including: one weightless simulator, one set of 3-axis attitude determination and control, one set of communication and data acquisition. The toolkit is kept at Vietnam National Space Center.
ii. One software for ADCS training, including: one embedded software module, one control and data acquisition software on computer, one open source software with five training programs. The software is kept together with the toolkit.
iii. One user manual, which is kept together with the toolkit.

Research area The toolkit (ADCS Kit) is used to support training activities at the Vietnam National Space Center.
Recommendations Making some technical improvements continuously regarding the weightless simulator and the attitude control algorithms to improve the toolkit.
