Goal and objectives of the project

- Fabrication of graphene/carbon nanotube composites (Gr/CNTs) doped with copper chloride.
- Application of Gr/CNTs, Gr/CNTs doped copper chloride materials in electrochemical sensors to determine the concentration of some organophosphate pesticides or some heavy metal ions (arsenic or lead).

Main results

- Gr/DWCNTs hybrid film was successfully synthesized by thermal CVD method at 1000 oC in mixture of gases (Ar, H2 and CH4).
- CuCl-Gr/DWCNTs hybrid film was successfully synthesized by air ambient vapor deposition method at 200 oC in CuCl powder.
- Gr/DWCNTs hybrid film was used to modify electrochemical electrodes for detection of As(V). The sensor showed a low LOD of 0.287 ppb in the concentration range of 1-10 ppb.
- CuCl-Gr/DWCNTs hybrid film was used to modify electrochemical electrodes for detection of glyphosate. The sensor showed a low LOD of 0.54 x 10-4 ppb in the concentration range of 1.0 x 10-3 ppb -50 ppb.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Gr/DWCNTs and  Gr/DWCNTs doped CuCl hybrid films were successfully synthesized on copper foils.
- Etching and and transferring these material films from the copper foils to the working electrode of the electrochemical sensor for the application of measuring low concentrations (ppb) of As(V) metal ions and glyphosate pesticides .
