Goal and objectives of the project

- Establish database of lipid of samples collected by the 6th research vessel Akademik Oparin in Vietnam’s oceans including: total lipid content, fatty acid composition, lipid composition classes.
- Investigate biological activities of lipid classes in studied samples: corals, echinoderms, sponges, mollusks.

Main results

- Research:
In this project, we have performed studies on 16 marine organism samples collected in Vietnam coastal including: 5 coral samples, 02 sponge samples, 02 molusk samples, 02 starfish samples, 01 sea cucumber sample, sea lilies, 02 Algae samples and obtained data on total lipid, fatty acids, total phospholipid, content and composition of lipid classes, investigating the biological activity of lipid classes of 16 marine samples.
- International Cooperation:
With the support of equipments and modern analysis methods from Russian experts, the project has organized 01 trip for scientific exchange in the Laboratory of Comparative Biochemistry – Zhirmunsky Nationl Scientific Center of Marine Biology– FEB - RAS, collaborate to conduct researches to obtain results together.
From the obtained results, the scientists from both side have published 02 international journal, 01 domestic journal
- Training: contribute in training 01 Master (graduated)

Thesis titles: Study on lipid and fatty acid composition of aquatic coral Millepora collected in Vietnamese oceans by months of the year

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

The project has conducted study on 16 marine organism samples collected during the 6th survey of research vessel Akademik Oparin on Vietnam coastal. Collected samples including 5 corals, 2 sponges, 2 mollusks, 2 starfishs, 1 sea cucumber, sea lily, 2 seaweeds. The samples were named to classify and preservation. Studied the lipid on all 16 samples results in the following data: total lipid content, composition and content of lipid classes, composition and content of fatty acids, total phospholipid content, composition and lipid classes, investigating the biological activity of lipid class of 16 marine organism samples. These are new data that will be added to the database of lipids of marine organisms in Vietnam.
