Goal and objectives of the project

Isolation and identification of fungal strains contaminated in soybean, peanut, corn, sesame and their mycotoxin products.

Main results

- Isolation, fermentation, and creation of extracts of 40 fungal strains contaminated in soybean, peanut, corn, and sesame and 11 market products with ingredients of soybean, peanut, corn, and sesame.
- Taxonomic identification of 12 isolated fungal strains.
- Isolation and structural elucidation of 47 compounds, including eight mycotoxins from six fungal strains.
- Evaluation of antimicrobial effects of the extracts of the isolated fungal strains and compounds.
- Evaluation of cytotoxicity of the extracts of the isolated fungal strains and compounds.
- Evaluation of nitric oxide inhibitory effects of 24 compounds isolated from the fungal strains NML01 and NMDT01.
- Development of eight processes for identification of eight mycotoxins produced by the fungal strains.
- Application of the processes in identification of eight mycotoxins in the fungal strains and market products stored improperly and of poor quality.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Isolation and structural elucidation of five new compounds and two new natural compounds.
- Evaluation of antimicrobial effects of several compounds for the first time.
- Evaluation of cytotoxic effects of several compounds for the first time.
- Evaluation of nitric oxide inhibitory effects of several compounds for the first time.
- Identification of eight mycotoxins in molds contaminated in soybean, peanut, corn, and sesame collected in Vietnam for the first time.
