Goal and objectives of the project

- Determine catastrophic processes took place in Quaternary; the role of them in forming and developing the complexes in the west coastal zone in Tonkin Gulf (From Quangninh province to Quangtri province, Vietnam).
- Propose resolutions for using resonablely resource in coastal complexes in the west coastal zone in Tonkin Gulf (From Quangninh province to Quangtri province, Vietnam).
- Maintain relationship about science research between two Institute; inhance researching and surveying  abilities in the coastal complexes for young reseachers at Institute of Geography.

Main results

Research
- Promote the development of an ancient geographical application to predict the future for the prevention of natural disasters, coastal stability and rational use of natural resources and the protection of the marine environment in the context of climate change and seawater
- In related research areas, to provide a comprehensive and reliable database system.
Coorperation
Contribute to strengthening and developing research cooperation between Institute of Geography, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Institute of Pacific Geography, Far Eastern Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences in the field of geography and catastrophe research.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

Approach and apply paleo geographical research methods to identify extremely large events that have occurred in the Holocene in order to look back on the past, combined with the present analysis as a  basis for Hybrid forecasting.
With a systematic approach, an integrated approach allows for a comprehensive and comprehensive identification of the causes and mechanisms of sedimentation and erosion in the coastal zone of the western coast of the Gulf of Tonkin (from Quang Ninh to Quang Tri) with the most modern and advanced methods and technologies available today.
