Project leader’s name Dr. Bui Hung Thang
Project duration 01/04/2019 - 31/12/2020
Project’s budget 200 million VND
Classify Excellent
Goal and objectives of the project

The major objective of this project is to exfoliate graphite into graphene by using ultrasonic assisted liquid-phase exfoliation method, and to apply the produced graphene on fabricating nanopolymers.

Main results

- Manufactured high power density ultrasonic device which has the maximum power of 1.6kW/litter for exfoliating graphite into graphene.
- Experimented processes of exfoliating graphite into graphene by using the manufactured device, the produced graphene has 2,5µm in size and thickness less than 20nm, these were measured by using FE-SEM electronic microscope and Raman spectroscopy.
- Researched on reinforcing graphene material for natural rubber, the result showed that graphene at small content from 0.5% to 1% can increase features of base rubber, at higher levels of content, material features tend to decrease. Meanwhile if graphene surface is processed by 4% aminsilan, the produced nanocomposite’s features will be increased in correlation with the graphene content from 0-5%, this is higher than the case in which the surface is not processed at the corresponding content.
- Applied graphene for testing purpose on some polymer and composite fields including: nanopolymer reinforcing graphene cooling cream, electrodeposited nickel-graphene nanocomposite coating.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

The project creates a potential technology development in exfoliating graphite into graphene which is more efficient and gives better quality, and more suitable for development conditions in Vietnam.
