Goal and objectives of the project

- Design, building, operation, and exploitation remote sensing database of VAST, where, the first period (2015-2018) focused on building VNREDSat-1 imagery database and others remote sensing data what is invested by VAST to perform the mission that belongs decision No. 30/2014/QĐ-TTg
- Recommendation, building and submit to the VAST to issue regulations, rules in term of administration, storage, addition, update data, metadata into remote sensing database of VAST, as well as regulations, rules in term of exploitation, appliation this database.
- Preparation technical system to connect and update remote sensing data/metadata from remote sensing data satellite systems (radar and optical) what will be deployed in the future.

- The shareable Remote sensing database of VAST was built.
- Submit the draft of regulations in term of organization, administration, storage, update, exploitation and application remote sensing database of VAST

 

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

Within the framework of VAST, this database is the first remote sensing database created for the purpose of sharing. The researchers participating in the implementation will grasp the technologies of designing, manufacturing, managing and operating a remote sensing database system, creating a basis for more effective management and exploitation of the database for the future Earth-observing satellite systems.
The drafts related to the management and exploitation of shared remote sensing database will be issued as a legal basis to improve the efficiency of the operation and exploitation of the database system to bring about Contributions to the scientific application

 

Products of the project

The first main product: Remote sensing database system of VAST
This products is a imagery database including VNREDSat-1 images with good quality, what captured from 2013 to the end of 2018.  The quantity  includes 20.465 scenes in panchromatic band and multispectral band at level 1A, 2A according to general classification method of remote sensing image.
This database is also designed to update metadata information from satellite systems other than VNREDSat-1 for management purposes.
This database is stored and managed on the client-server with total hard drive capacity up to 26.4 Tb ( can be increased) located at Space Technology Institute
The database is managed by open-source tools that developed by ourself. The user interface has URL like this http://sti-csdl.vast.vn/
The second main product: Submit 02 draft of regulation in term of organization, storage, update, and exploitation remote sensind database of VAST (detailed information is shown in final report)
Other products: there are 05 products what are documents attached with the first main product, consists of:
-    Report of Surveying, current status assessment, and requirement of remote sensing database  system and application sofwares
-    Document of analyzing requirements on database system and application software.
-    Document of the overall design solution and detailed design of database system and application software
-    Document of testing the system, experiment results assessment, preparing to deploy, system operation.
-    User Guide Manual

Recommendations

- Continuing to invest resources to update remote sensing image data obtained from VNREDsat-1 system.
- VAST conducts the necessary procedures to issue regulations on organization, management, storage, update, and exploitation of the VAST’s remote sensing database as a basis to boost exploitation, improve the application efficiency of this shared database.
