Goal and objectives of the project | - Goal of the project: Development of nemo anemonefish breeding industry for vietnam ornamental fish
- Objectives of the project:
(1) Improvement of the technique of artificial breeding and grow-out of clownfish with targets:
- Survival rate of 1 month of age about 50% and market size about 85%.
- Maximum re-maturation and spawning period: 15 days.
- Rate of egg eaten broodstock below 20%.
- Replacing Artermia in the rearing of fry after the 30th days tages
- Increase profit / cost ratio to 30%.
(2) Experimental production of 15,000 commercial nemofish. |
Main results | - Theoretical results:
Determined the optimum concentration of vitamin E for broodstock diet is 375 mg vitamin E/kg feed which positively influenced the rate of egg loss and hatching rate of egg, the abnormal rate, survival rate of the 3 days old larvae.
The diet containing 100 – 150 mg/kg astaxanthin may be considered as the best level of astaxanthin supplementation for reproductive performance of broodstock, the rate of egg loss, the abnormal rate, survival rate of the 3 days old larvae in clownfish Amphirion ocellaris Cuvier,1830.
The current project also reveals that the Selco concentration enriched to live feeds was 100 ppm increased the length, the specific growth rate of length and survival rate of 0- 45 days posthatch larvae.
The appropriated time to change from rotifer to artemia nauplii for larve rearing of clownfish was the 4th day post hatch, which possitive effects on the growth in length and weight of clownfish.
The appropriated time to change from artemia to commercial feed was the 16th day post hatch, which possitive effects on the growth in length and weight, the average weekly weight gain of clownfish.
At 450 mg/kh Canthaxanthin supplemented in the diet improved growth, survival, color and aesthetics of fish A. ocellaris.
Supplemented 0,1% FOS in broodstock diet could also increased the growth of fish (the length, the specific growth rate in length and weight, the average weekly weight gain) and gut morphological characteristics of fish A. ocellaris.
- Applied results:
The project produces 15.000 fishes by Vina Marinefarm Technology Application And Production Co., Ltd. The fishes achieved the size of 3 cm or more, no abnormal morphological, beatiful color, and accepted by the market. |
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | The project determined the optimum concentration of vitamin E and astaxanthin supplemented in broodstock diet which improved reproductive performance of clownfish. |
