- Formulation of a technology in application of Sentinel-1 in monitoring changes across time of water bodies and inudated areas in the watershed.
- Development of method for combination of optical and microwave image data in mapping of land cover.
- Development of algorithm and software for interpolation of boundaries of flood areas between to observation dates.
- Development of algorithm and software for interpolation of depth of flooded areas.
- Development of a method for automated water body extraction from Landsat 8 OLI data. This method was published in ISI journal Limnology and Oceanography: Methods.
- Applied results:
- Establishment of 2016 land cover map using optical and microwave image data for Vu Gia – Thu Bon watershed.
- Development of a database of water bodies for the Vu Gia – Thu Bon watershed based on the latest satellite imageries.
- Inventory of areas and land cover types affected by the 2016 flood.
- Evaluation of capabilities of the Sentinel-1 image data in providing inudation information of the watershed during flood to support operation of inter-reservoirs.
