Goal and objectives of the project

The main objective of this study is to develop methodology by combining optical, radar, and field data for estimation of tropical forest biomass carbon storage and CO2 sequestration by forest vegetation.

Main results

- Theoretical results:
Develop a detailed forest cover map (scale 1:25,000), where the region is a tropical monsoon, along of the rainy season and the dry season is distinctive, with evergreen and deciduous forests.
Develop a model for estimating forest biomass by combining optical satellite images and radar satellite images.
Select the best of a model for estimation of forest biomass and then use this model for biomass mapping, carbon storage, and CO2 sequestration in the study area.
01 paper has published in Land/MDPI Journal (ISI list) and 01 paper has published in Advances in Remote Sensing Journal.
- Applied result:
The project has supported the successful for 01 Ph.D. candidate from Chiba University, Japan.
