Goal and objectives of the project

The project’s target is to research and integrating an electro-optical system to monitor and warning the short range objects and can detect and track them automatically (the objects are human (1.8m x 0.5m), canoe, ship (2m x 3m), storing the images and warning the illegal intrusions. The goal of the project is to equip this system for army on the Viet Nam’s islands; equipping the warning-security systems for organizations and the civil organizations, and the last is to supply the learning models to robot vision, automation, and the electro-optical labs.

Main results

- Theoretical result:
+ Found the fundamental theory and fabricating technically the optical-electronic systems integrated the computer vision applications.
+ Researched the processing image and tracking object algorithms according to: Cross-correlation tracker, KLT (Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi Feature Tracker), Camshift, Meanshift. To propose using the Kalman Filter to improve the quality of processing image and tracking object algorithm.
+ Researched the adaptive control algorithms for the dynamic system, the goal is to improve the tracking’s quality and the adaptive ability when the system has the variable parameters and noise while working on the real environments.
- Applied result:
+ The project researched and integrated an electro-optical system to monitor and warning the short range objects and can detect and track them automatically (the objects are human (1.8m x 0.5m), canoe, ship (2m x 3m), storing the images and warning the illegal intrusions. The goal of the project is to equip this system for army on the Viet Nam’s islands; equipped the warning-security systems for organizations and the civil organizations, and supplied the learning models to robot vision, automation, and the optical-electronic labs.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

+ Found the fundamental theory and fabricating technically the optical-electronic systems integrated the computer vision applications for monitoring, detecting, and tracking objects automatically.
+ To propose using the Kalman Filter to improve the quality of processing image and the velocity of tracking objects.

- Patents (list): No
- Technological products (describe in details: technical characteristics, place):
- The electro-optical system integrated TL 1.3 has three types that were designed and fabricated. The short observed range ( 2km). The system was tested for detecting and tracking objects including: human, motorbike that moves in the rage of 100m daytime and giving the good tracking results: Speed of automatic tracking is about 15 f/s. Aside from the automaic mode, the system was also supported to control by hands with keyboards, mouse, joysticks and HMI.

Research region

- To serve monitoring the national security: Place it fixed on the high – observed towers, on mobile-cars, on navy’s ships, and on aircrafts.
- This product can also use for practical training purposes with the objects are students, masters that work or research on robot, automation, control and electro-mechanism departments… in Viet Nam. In reality, it is using to research and training for students learning on automatic control department at Hanoi university of science and technology (HUST), Hanoi Vocational College of High Technology (HHT). Hanoi University of Industry (HAUI).
