Project's information

Project's title Construction of recombinant baculoviruses expressing hemagglutinin (HA) and Matrix (M1) proteins of A/H5N1 virus for development of new generation vaccine
Project leader’s name Dr. Dong Van Quyen
Project duration 01/01/2013 - 01/01/2014
Project’s budget 500.000.000 VN dong
Classify Excellent
Goal and objectives of the project

To construct recombinant baculoviruses expressing A/H5N1 antigens.

Main results

- Theoretical results:
• Created 2 recombinant baculoviruses carying h5 and m1 genes of influenza A/H5N1 clade 2.3.2.1b.
• Master the technology to create recombinant baculovirus carrying h5 and m1 genes of influenza A/H5N1.
• Successfully produced immunological product containing HA and M1 proteins of A/H5N1 clade 2.3.2.1b. When injected chickens, this product developed detectable HI response with a GMT of 3.2 log2 to 4 log2.
• Trained one Master student.
- Applied results: Proving matericals for further study with the ultimate aim of developing new A/H5N1 generation vaccine using Virus-like particle technology.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

This is the 1st report on production of recombinant baculoviruses expressing HA and M1 proteins of A/H5N1 virus clade 2.3.2.1b in Vietnam.
