Goal and objectives of the project

- Building the physics background to study the broadband metamaterial absorber with the band of 10-15% operating in the microwave region (2 GHz to 18 GHz).
- Building the technological process to fabricate the broadband metamaterial absorber operating in the microwave region.
- Applying the above model for the broadband metamaterial absorber at the THz frequency.

Main results

- Successfully built the physics background to study the broadband metamaterial absorber with the band of 10-15% operating at the GHz and THz frequencies. Base on this, we can fabricate the broadband metamaterial absorber with different structures.
- Successfully designed, simulated and fabricated the metamaterial absorber with super cell consist of 4 dishes and rings with different size in the microwave region. By using these structures, we successfully fabricated the broadband metamaterial absorber (A > 80 %) with the band of 3.7 GHz. The experiment results are in good agreement with the calculation and simulation data.
- Successfully designed, simulated the broadband metamaterial absorber (A > 80 %, band width of 2.19 THz) at the THz frequencies by using the dish structure.
- Designed and simulated the tunable metamaterial absorber which can be controlled by temperature.
- We designed and fabricated the metamaterial working at the THz frequency. By using the fabricated sample, we successfully made the biosensor for examining bovine serum albumin.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

Promising fundament of new materials in energy and military fields such as metamaterials based solar cells and metamaterials based electromagnetic wave shield.
