Goal and objectives of the project

- To survey, assess the status quo of science and technology application and factors affecting the application of households in Phu Tho Province
- To survey, assess the status quo of market accessibility and factors affecting the access to market of households in Pho Tho Province
- To propose solutions that improve the applicatition of science and technology in agricultural production and the accessibility to market of households, contributing to income increase and ensuring sustainable livelihood.

Main results

The findings from the assessment of status quo and factors affecting the application of science and techonology in agriculture have shown that:
+ The application of science and technology in agricultural production is still limited at using scientific achievements in breed and the application of mechandized solutions. The renovation in mode of production, land tillage and the use of new farming techniques is at medium level.
+ Market accessibility capacity of households in Lam Thao and Cam Khe districts is at medium level: The surveyed households have made investments, sought for market information but not in a regular basis. Information contents are diversified but mainly focused on economic aspects (interest, land lending, borrowing land...). Market access channels are through local goverment, local social organizations, friends and relatives.
+ Factors affecting the application of science and technology include: Age, education level, agricultural labor forces, social organizations, mass organizations, household economic level, agricultural production land area of households and factors related to institution and policy.
+ Factors affecting the market accessibility include: Head of household education level, production land area, participation of social organizations, number of trainings attended and distance from home to market...in which, the higher education level, the more participation in trainings, the bigger agricultural production land, the more communication and transportation vihicles owned...the higher market accessibility capacity is.
+ Proposed three solutions for improving science and technology application and 05 solutions for improving accessibility to market for households in the research site.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

Is the first research to assess the status quo of science and technology application and market accessibility of households in Phu Tho province and to propose recommendations for improving accessibility to market of households, contributing to income increase and ensuring sustainable livelihood.
Those results will contribute to the foundation for directing the agricultural development strategy in Pho Tho province.
