Goal and objectives of the project

- Investigate characteristics of vibrations, strength, stabilty and thermal of satellite structures subjected to different static and dynamic conditions in processes of manufacturing, lauching and motion in Low Earth Orbit.
- Develop an integrated software for simulating and analyzing behaviours of small satellite structures based on the platform of advanced simulation techniques associated with modern engineering theories.

Main results

- Integrated software for smulating and analyzing problems of vibrations, strength, stability and thermal in supporting processes of designing and manufacturing small satellites in Low Earth Orbit
The project has developed an integrated software for simulating structral responses of satellite in conjunction with the ANSYS Workbench software medium and with the aid of other softwares such as SolidWork, Matlab, C#. Our software contains the following modules:
+ CAD/SolidWorks drawings for a selected satellite
+ Input modules
+ Thermal calculation module
+ Module for structrual vibration and stability analysis
+ Module for strength calculation
The main interfaces of our software for structure calculation (vibration, strength and stability) and thermal analysis are presented in Figs. 1 and 2, respectively.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Characteristics of vibration, strength and stability of satellite structures
Some important aspects of problems on vibrations, strength and stability of satellite structures are investigated. In vibration problems, modal anlysis and structural responses of the satellite under different external loadings (i.e. periodic and random loadings) are studied in details. Calculations of strength and stability of satellite structrures are carried out in the case of the satellite subjected to quasi-static and dynamic loadings generated from stages of transportation and launching. The obtained result shows that all required criteria on vibration, strength and stability of the satellite at which structures must remain the integrity are guaranteed.
- Thermal characteristics of satellite
Using the modern analytical and numerical methods, the present project also dealts with some aspects of thermal behaviour of the satellite during motion in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Thermal calculations are performed for nonlinear differential equations with single- and many-node models derived from the discretization process of satellite structrures based on the finite difference method and thermal balance principle. In satellite thermal exchange analysis, conduction and radiation processes are considered. In comparison with different approaches, our calculation shows that the obtained thermal responses are reliable and accurate.
- Design and simulation for satellites with complex structures
In the present project, two small satellite models with complex structures are designed and simulated. The first satellite model is designed based on the platform of a Greek's satellite whereas the second satellte model is based on the platform of VNREDSat-1 satellite.
The result of the qualitative and quantitative analysis for structural responses shows that some criteria of vibration, strength and thermal properties are guaranteed, and computational techniques utilized are reliable.
