Goal and objectives of the project | - Establishing the scientific theory to estimate erosion rates (weathering, erosion, erodibility) of limestone in Cat Ba islands. |
Main results | - Scientific results: The results of the study on limestone erosion rates in Cat Ba island are as follows: The erosion rate of limestone is at moderate level on land zone, ranged from 0,017 mm/yr to 0,228 mm/yr; these rates on limestone at intertidal zone and subtidal zone are quite high level, about 0,180 mm/yr and 0,316 mm/yr, respectively. This type of erosion study needs to be repeated on a long period time to confirm the most accurate erosion rates in each zone. Some engineering and social solutions are proposed to make preservations and develop the tourist landscape on this island. Some images of the project: |
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | The results of the research can be used to develop this kind of research aiming to the field of evaluating erosion rate of the natural landscape, the cultural and historical buildings are built by natural materials (soil, stones…) |
Products of the project | - Scientific papers in referred journals (list): |
Recommendations | Proposed some kinds os this research aiming to the field of evaluating erosion rates of the natural landscape, the cultural and historical buildings are built by land, natural stone. |
