| Goal and objectives of the project | The main goal of the project is to research on the nature/characteristics of some certain unofficial social institutions existing in the Central Highlands of Vietnam to have better insight in the roles and impacts of such institutions towards the sustainable development of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. |
| Main results | - Theoretical results: The research is, in the nutshell, on the social change from the two theoretical basis, namely post-structuralism point of view on the nature of the unofficial socail institutions, and “cooperative” point of view on the roles of the unofficial social institutions towards sustainable development. The process of social chage occuring among the ethnic groups in the Central Highlans of Vietnam in the 20th Century, specially since year 1986 until now, can be briefed with the following two key process: (a) The process of transforming from a non-governmental traditional-based community to a member of a Governmental society; and (b) The process of transforming from a traditional based society basing on exchange relationships and reciprocal support to a model society on the basis of rule – based relationship. The first process is related to the .., while the second to the nature of the social relations revealed though eco-social activities inside and outside the community. |
| Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | The research focus on better understanding, analysing the change of the unofficial traditional social institutions of the local ethnics under the eco-political affects, family, religions and belief, education, culture and society, and environment protection in the interaction with official and unofficial social institutions in the today’s society of the Central Highlands of Vietnam. |
