To inventory, assess the current status and change; to develop criteria for assessing the quality and value of the sandy beaches system in Northeastern coastal area.
- To propose solutions for conservation and reasonable using and promote the values of the sandy beaches in order to develop tourism, protect environment and landscape

- Theoretical results:
• Data set on environmental water quality, environmental sediment quality, and environmental biology features of the sandy beaches in Northeastern coastal area.
• GIS Database of the sandy beaches system in Northeastern coastal area.
• Set of criteria for assessing quality, the values of the sandy beaches on aspects: landscape, environment, water, sediment, biology and sands classification.
• Solutions for conservation, reasonable utilization and promotion of the sandy beach’s values.
- Applied results:
• The study results will provide the comprehensive data system of the sandy beaches in Northeastern coastal area, support the management and protection of marine environment. The distribution maps of beaches provided the basis information for the provinces in order to develop strategic plans, planning to use this resource.
• Set of criteria for evaluating the sandy beaches provides invaluable references for the local provinces/cities that assists the planning works and builds the resort that use the sandy beaches. Thus, it helps to conserve the Ha Long bay world natural heritage and Cat Ba biosphere Reserve for future generation.

- The project supplies an inventory of the sandy beach system in the northeastern coastal area of Viet Nam. Characteristics of the sandy beach such as: beach distribution, sediment structure, beach morphology, seasonal morphology change and etc… were detail described.
- Provides a set of tools to identify and assess the value of the sandy beaches, effective support for the management program and protection of coastal areas towards integrated coastal management.
- Promote the use of satellite data and GIS applications on studying marine resources and coastal management.
