- To understand the nature and formation elements of coastal circulation at some outpost islands in the Gulf of Tonkin (Bach Long Vy and Con Co).
- To assess the role of the small circulation along the islands in the environment, ecology and human activities, economics in island area; proposing solutions for sustainable development.

• Data set collected from surveys and analysis on natural conditions, environmental factors, typical ecosystems, qualities of water and sediment
• Simulation of circulation, spread of pollutants
• Proposing solutions for environmental sustainable development of the outpost islands.
- Applied results:
The study results are scientific basis for managements to deal with the evolution of water pollution (oil spill, chemicals); risk control of water pollution in the future of the outpost islands in Vietnam.
