Goal and objectives of the project

Study on fabrication of advanced catalysts for production of bio-fuel from from agriculture wastes in order to collect data for establishing bio-fuel production technology at pilot scale.

Main results

* Theoretical results:

  • Optimality of conditions in spent FCC regeneration: the combination of coke burning at 650oC for 3h and acid treatment, enhancing acidity by atomic implantation with Al.
  • Maximum bio-oil yield (liquid product) of 40,15% equal organic product 23,61% can be reached by pyrolysis in presence of modified FCC catalysts at 450oC with catalytic content of 10%, whereas, the pyrolysis without catalyst at 550oC, liquid product yield only was of 37.60%. Thus, the pyrolysis with catalysts increases liquid product yield  and  decreases pyrolysis temperature as compared to that without catalysts.
  • To propose the pilot plan using mixture catalysts in the pyrolysis with two stages. This process is promising for enhance of liquid product yield and quality of organic products.

In this project, SBA-15 was used as support for Ni dispertion. To our best knowledge, there are no researchs on Ni dispersed SBA-15, this is novel of this project.

* Applied results: Scientific research cooperation project with Vietnam Petrolium Institute on catalysts  use in biorefinery for upgrading bio-oil at pilot scale.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results
  • Procedure of novel catalysts synthesis with transcendent quality.
  • To design the process of the pilot for producing bio-fuels from agricultural wastes (rice straw) with both of energy recovery and environmental protection.
