Goal and objectives of the project
  • Survey and assessment of population genetic diversity of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, Panax vietnamensis Ha et Gruvsh and some other species of the Panax genus in Vietnam, to create a scientific basis for conservation and sustainable development.
  • Enhance research capacity and scientific cooperation for both parties in the joint research proposals.
Main results
  • Populations of Ngoc Linh ginseng in the provinces of Quang Nam and Kon Tum have been investigated and determined their distribution.
  • Conducted sampling for DNA analysis, samples were stored in molecular systematics and conservation genetics department, Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources.
  • Analyzed the population genetic diversity of two species of P. ginseng and P. vietnamensis using AFLP method, phylogeny of the Panax genus based on sequence of ITS gene.
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

This is the first scientific reseach on population genetic diversity of P.vietnamensis.
