Goal and objectives of the project
  • Carry out surveys and and give species composition on some soil invertebrate groups in the Xuan Son National Park, Phu Tho province;
  • To find out the cave biodiversity value in Xuan Son National Park;
  • To discover the species that have scientific or economic value in the studied areas.
Main results

Theorerical results: Research on soil invertebrate in Xuan Son National Park obtained the following results:

  • A list of the species composition of Springtails (Collembola) in investigated is recorded, including 76 species belonging to 44 genera and 15 families in three habitats: natural forest, forest park, and cultivated soil. The number species is highest in natural forest, it decreases in forest park and is lowest in cultivated soil.
  • A total 34 spider species belong to 14 families were recorded. There are 5 habitats have chosen as follow: natural forest, disturbed forest, artificial forest, bamboo forest and grassland-shrubland. Habitat distribution of Spiders in the Park is discussed in the paper. Species Ummeliata insecticeps is dominant in number of individuals of population at the Xuan Son National Park. The highest number of species (18 species) was recorded in artificial forest, the lowest number of species (5 species) was recorded in bamboo forest. Results showed that the distribution of spiders in Xuan Son National Park has relationship with structure of vegetational cover and food source of spider.
  • Eight Arthropod orders were recorded in three caves, including 6 orders of Insect class namely Beetles (Coleoptera), Cockroaches (Blattodea), Flies, Midges and Mosquitoes (Diptera), Wasps, Ants and Bees (Hymenoptera), Springtails (Collembola), and two orders of Arachnid class namely Araneae and Opiliones.

Applied results: There are two species that value in medicine and pharmacy include scorpion Heterometrus petersii and spider Ornithoctonus huwena have been recorded in Xuan Son National Park.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results
  •  The first time has provided a full list of species composition of Collembola and spiders in Xuan Son National Park.
  • There are two species that value in medicine and pharmacy have been recorded.
