• Project was conducted from 1996 to now for the purpose of having a systematic, regular and periodical data on marine water and sediment quality of the Central part.
• The collected data is used for assessing marine environment quality in the national scale and for preparing national environment status report.

• Theoretical results: Coastal marine environment quality data including physical-chemical parameters; nutrients and organic matters; heavy metals and cyanide; coliform; oil; chlorophyll a, b; pesticides; plankton and benthos from two sampling campains conducted in April and August of 2010 at 8 sampling sites along the coast line from Quang Binh to Quy Nhon province, including Deo Ngang, Dong Hoi, Con Co, Thuan An, Da Nang, Dung Quat, Sa Huynh and Quy Nhon.
• Applied results: Monitoring data would be helpful for managers of Pollution Control Department (Vietnam Environment Administration) and the related provinces for assessment the environmental quality status and timely warning about environmental pollution in the Central part of Vietnam.

Recommendations on the budget allocation:

• It is needed to ensure funding for the monitoring operation with the frequency of four sampling campains a year.
• More funding should be needed to increase the number of monitoring stations to 18, including 9 main stations and the others 9 sites in the cross section.
• A budget allocation plan should be made to reinforce, supply and replace the monitoring equipments used in the field survey as well as in the laboratory.
• It should be taken into account the price slippage in budget allocation for monitoring operation each year.
