FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
  • Training the high quality human resource in science and technology, serving for the socio-economic development of Viet Nam especially in fields of key science and technology;
  • Training undergraduate, master and doctoral programs; creating close linkage between training activities and scientific research activities;
  • Conducting scientific and technological researches in a close connection with enterprises; disseminating the research results and carrying out technology transfer;
  • Implementing the career counseling, supporting learning and following up students after graduation;
  • Organizing training activities, fostering and improving professional qualifications for those who have demand;
  • Performing the public services in accordance with laws;
  • Cooperating with higher education institutions and research institutes of Vietnam and France and other international organizations in order to implement the above functions and tasks.

ACTIVITIES
  • Training undergraduate, master and doctoral levels in science and technology field;
  • Scientific research and technology transfer;
  • Provide pre-service and in-service trainings for all of those who have demand;
  • Developing international cooperation with prestigious training and research institutions in Vietnam, France and other countries.
ACHIEVEMENTS
  • The Inter-governmental agreement on development of USTH in the period of 2018-2023 was signed on November 02, 2018 on the official visit of French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe to Vietnam in November 2018;
  • The USTH development project with loans from ADB was officially extended to another 05 years (until 30th June 2023) by Prime Minister at the Decision No. 1434/QD-TTg dated October 29, 2018;
  • The number of undergraduate students increased by 66% compared to that of 2017. At present, there are 705 undergraduate students, 134 master students, and 22 doctoral students studying at USTH.  The number of doctoral students in France is 51;
  • USTH ranked No. 7th among Vietnamese universities and research institutes with the number of international publications counted by the Nature Index from August 01, 2017 to August 31, 2018. In 2018, USTH had 43 publications, including 34 ISIs and 09 other magazines. There are 27 publications published in the national magazines in which 14 publications in VAST’s magazines;
  • USTH has signed 30 MOUs and cooperation agreements; received 35 international teams and sent 27 team and 111 students to do the internship abroad;
  • USTH has opened the 4-year bachelor training program and 05 new training sectors including: Applied Mathematics, Engineering Physics and Electronics, Cyber Security, Chemistry and Aeronautical Engineering. Notably, Airbus has committed to support 2.2 billion euro to open the Aeronautical Engineering training program while Vietnam airlines committed to provide jobs for students of 5 courses of this training program.
