FUNCTIONS AND TASKS
Functions: Helping the President of Vietnam Academy of Science & Technology on publishing activities and disseminate scientific and technological publications.
Tasks:
- To manage the scientific and technological journals of VAST; publish and issue document and works within natural science and technology according to the regulation of the State and VAST.
- To research, survey social demands on scientific and technological documents; organize and participate in promoting, disseminating and improving the effectiveness of using scientific and technological materials in society.
- To implement some specific power of copyright representation in accordance with the law.
- To consult, services in the fields of publishing under the provisions of the State and VAST
- To participate in research and training of staff in the field of publishing.
- International cooperation on publishing work in accordance with the State and VAST
- Management of organization and apparatus; manage and use the civil servants of PTS in accordance with the State and VAST
- To manage the financial and asset of PTS according to the State’s regulations.
- To implement other duties assigned by President of VAST.

ACTIVITIES
- To organize the implementation of publishing and editorial plans and issuance of publishing decisions for qualified publications according to the criteria suitable to the PTS’s guideline allowed by the State competence agencies.
- To organize for printing, depositing, distributing 11 journals and publications in accordance with the law.
- To expand the publishing and distribution network nationwide.
- To diversify publications in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, geology – marine geophysics, environmental resources,… to server the wide range readers in around country.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Annually, PST publishes and distributes the high-value scientific publications such as: Volumes of Monographs books, State-ordered books, Fauna of Vietnam, Flora of Vietnam…
Two (02) journals: Advances in Natural Sciences: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ANSN) and Vietnam Journal of Mathematics named in Scopus Index. Especially, Vietnam Journal of Mathematics was accepted to put into the Reference List Journals and ESCI by MathSciNet.
Nine (09) journals are implementing the second phase of the project “Improving the quality of Scientific and Technological Journals of VAST under the Scopus criteria” have some typical achievements: Vietnam Journal of Chemistry was named in the American Chemical Abstract Society (CAS) system and several other CABI systems; 03 journals: Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology, Vietnam Journal of Earths Sciences and Vietnam Journal of Mechanics named in ASEAN Citation Index (ACI).
Book prizes of recent years:
There are many books with the high scientific content, beautiful quality and forms have participated in Vietnam Book Award and won in Interesting Books and Beautiful Books: In 2010: 01 Golden Prize (Interesting Book): Geology and Resources of Vietnam; in 2011: 02 Silver Prize (Interesting Book): Atlas of Vietnam Insects and Earthquake and Tsunami Hazards in coastal areas of Vietnam; in 2013: 01 Bronze (Interesting Book): Vietnam Geomorphology Structure - Natural resources - Environment and 01 Consolation Prize (Interesting Book): Vietnam Birds Identification; in 2014: 01 Consolation Prize (Interesting Book): Humid tropical weathering in Vietnam; in 2015: 01 Bronze Prize (Interesting Book): Carbon nanostructures and potential applications and 01 Consolation Prize (Beautiful Book): Vietnam under VNRED's perspective Sat 1. In 2016 and 2017, PTS took part and won the high prizes such as the Golden Book Award in 2017: New heterotrophic seaweed Labyrinthula, Schizochytrium, Tharaustochytrium in Vietnam: Potentials and Challenges.
