| Scientific research: The focus of the Institute of Applied Material and Science ‘s work annually includes:
- Conduct fundamental research in: material and nanotechnology, material and pharmaceutical technology, inorganic material, organic material, catalyst material, photochemical material, petrol additive material, bio-material, eco-friendly material, material for environmental remediation, advanced material to combat climate change, sea, island, aromatherapy, and bioactive compound;
- Conduct basic scientific research for new technology and implement in manufacture, perform the trial production test based on the scientific results about the biological active compounds, pharmaceutical chemistry, functional food, cosmetic, bio-fuel, material and environmental remediation equipment, absorptive and catalytic material for petrol manufacture and petrochemistry, petrol additive material, aromatherapy; Conduct basic scientific research and manufacturing technology for making the high value production from the natural resources;
- Implement the scientific results and apply the new technology in material science, environment, ecology and other related fields;
- Investigate, study on structures and functions of ecosystems, individual ecology, population ecology and human ecology;
- Explore, study, appraise and evaluate animal system, plant system and fungi, the threatened gene pool; propose, carry out trial and implement the strategy in protection, recovery and development of genomic;
- Explore the impacts of climate change on biodiversity, ecosystem, biology resource and offer, test, implement the proposal about preventive measures;
- Explore, study, evaluate the biology resource on land habitat and underwater habitat; offer the proposal, carry out the trial about the management and the use of ecosystems and bio-resources in the sustainable strategy;
- Research and determine the sensitive ecosystems, ecological forecasting, offer the logical using proposal, ecosystem renovation and restoration

- Institute of Applied Material and Science has been publishing the scientific result on prestigious scientific journals that belong to SCI, Scopus indexed journals; the average number of publications is above 50 in multidisciplinary fields including biomaterials, bio-pharmaceutical material, natural product, catalyst material, environment and technology, etc. The number of publications has climbed by 30% each year as compared to the adjacent year.
