Goal and objectives of the project

- Species composition, distribution and current status of scorpions in Vietnam. 
- Identifying the habitat characteristics of 01 scorpion species suitable for keeping at the Vietnam Center for Conservation of Natural Resources and Rescue of Animals and Plants (Phong Dien, Thua Thien Hue).

Main results

- Theoretical results:
+ The list of scorpion species in Vietnam has been determined to include 35 species, 12 genera, 6 families. Of which, 26 species (74.3%) have only been recorded in Vietnam, possibly endemic species..
+ Recorded the distribution of scorpion species in Vietnam, determined the conservation status of 2 scorpion species.
+ Identifyed the habitat characteristics of 01 scorpion species suitable for keeping at the Vietnam Center for Conservation of Natural Resources and Rescue of Animals and Plants (Phong Dien, Thua Thien Hue).
+ Proposed solutions for the rational development and exploitation, sustainable use of 3 significant scorpion species in Vietnam.
- Applied results:
+ The results of the project contribute to enhancing the value of biodiversity in Vietnam: to found and publishing a new species for science;
+The research results of the project to provide new and important information and are very necessary take part in using scorpion resources in economic development, application in medicine and pharmacy.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Provided a comprehensive picture of the scorpion fauna in Vietnam with 35 species, 12 genera, 6 families. 
- A new species of scorpion has been discovered for science in a cave in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh..
- A technical process for experimentally keeping one species of scorpion has been proposed at the Vietnam Center for Conservation of Natural Resources and Rescue of Animals and Plants (Phong Dien, Thua Thien Hue).
- Proposed solutions for the sustainable development and using of three significant scorpion species in Vietnam.
