| Goal and objectives of the project | Conducting a plant diversity survey in Phong Dien Nature Reserve, collecting native plant seeds, and propagating them for cultivation will contribute to the restoration and regeneration of native plants at the Vietnam Center for Natural Resources Conservation and Animal and Plant Rescue |
| Main results | - Theoretical results:
+ The project identifies the flora of the world Biosphere Reserve of the Phong Dien Nature with a total of 365 species and subspecies belonging to 294 genera and 114 plant families of 5 branches of vascular plants: Lycopodiophyta: 5 species, 4 genera, 2 families; Fern phylum (Polypodiophyta): 8 species, 7 genera, 5 families; Gnetophyta: 1 species, 1 genera, 1 family; Pinophyta: 1 species, 11 genera, 1 families; Magnolia phylum (Magnoliophyta): 350 species and subspecies, 282 genera, 105 families;
+ Tow new species have been announced to science, Aspidistra phongdiensis; Nymphanthus vietnamensis. One additional species have been discovered for the Vietnamese flora: Impatiens hirsutisepala.
- Applied results:
+ Project Based on the collected data, out of 365 recorded species, the Project has listed 228 valuable plant species, accounting for 62,47% of the species of the flora. Regarding the level of rarity, among the 365 species of vascular plants recorded in the Phong Dien Nature Reserve, there are a total of 16 species of vascular plants that need to be conserved according to evaluation criteria. prices of Vietnam Red Book (2024), Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP of the Government (2021), IUCN (2019).
+ Assessed the causes, threats and proposed measures to preserve the ecosystem and rare endemic plant species that are priority conservation. From there, we propose 7 groups of measures to conserve and sustainably use rare and valuable vascular plant species in Phong Dien Nature Reserve.
+ 01 Experimental planting model of native trees (500 m2 in natural environment). |
