Goal and objectives of the project

Determining the diversity, role and utility value of predatory insects belonging to the order Hymenoptera and Hemiptera at the ASEAN Heritage Park Vu Quang, Ha Tinh and testing the breeding of a common species to serve the essential needs of humans.

Main results

- Applied results:
+ The project has provided a list of 22 popular species of predatory insects of the Hymenoptera order that are valuable for use (species that act as natural enemies of pests, pollinate plants, and serve as food), making pharmaceuticals) at Asean Vu Quang heritage garden;
+ The project has provided a list of 57 popular species of predatory insects belonging to the Hemiptera order that are valuable for use (species that act as natural enemies of pests, as food, and as medicine) in Vietnam. Asean Vu Quang heritage garden;
+ The project has showned experimental results of breeding a popular predatory insect species that is valuable for use in biological control of crop pests, which is Coranus fuscipennis, a member of the insectivorous stink bug family Reduviidae, order Hemiptera.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Results of research on the biology of the southern giant hornet, Vespa soror: nest architecture, morphological differences between species and genetic structure of bee colonies based on the contributions of a The number of specimens collected from the project published by domestic and foreign scientists shows that the appearance of this species is a warning for warmer climates and shows the potential for significant ecological impact. wherever they occur due to their large populations and long nesting periods.
- The research results of the project are the basis for the Management Board of ASEAN Vu Quang Heritage Park to develop plans, promote and properly use and conserve existing insect prey resources to serve socio-economic development.
