1) To enhance capacity on research and apply of the key-labs “Food and Environment safety” established by Vietnam Academy of Science and Techlology in order to protect human health, customer ’s right for substainable development.
2) To develop scientific research and technology on seafood safety and produce nesscessary products for research and taking care of human health.
Objectives:
1) To develop practical protocols to identify toxins and toxic substances in seafood in order to evaluate seafood quality, the risk to human health and safety limit.
2) To identify toxic substances and their mechanism to accumulate, dispatch and evaluate seafood quality effected by human activities.
3) To develop the practical protocols for reservation of seafood.
4) To develop and apply the protocols to identify and analyse toxic substances in commercial seafood product.
5) To create data on chemical profile of some seafood products in Viet Nam.
6) To obtain reference materials for research and testing toxins in seafood.

Main results
- Theoretical results:
+ Do the screening and evaluating toxins in Vietnamese marine animals and plants that pose a risk of causing food insecurity, including naturally occurring toxins, toxins generated by contamination from external factors, during processing and preservation.
+ Research and evaluate on mechanism of toxic substances may be produced during processing and reservation, in order to eliminate the risk from seafood.
+ identified the toxins, toxic substances in seafood and marine environment, their pathway, accumulation in seafood; evaluated seafood quality which may be influenced by economical and aquacultural activities;
+ Created data on chemical profile of some seafood products for quality control and traceability.
+ Publish 12 SCIE articles, 13 national articles, and 02 patent applications.
+ Educated 08 masters, supported training of 01 doctorate student with the main research directions of the components, contributing to enhancing capacity and high-level human resources in research on toxins, toxicants and food safety and marine environment in Vietnam.
- Applied results:
The project is successful developed practical protocols for screening toxins from the initial source in marine animals and plants to determining accumulated, residual, and transformed toxins in marine food products - an urgent issue in the field of marine food safety in Vietnam to increase the value of our country's seafood exports.
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- The project, for the 1st time to develop successfully the comprehensive practical protocol to identify and evaluate toxins and toxic substances in marine environment, in order to complete and enhance research capacity in VAST and Vietnam.
- Two reference materials have been developed to surve analytical condition of Vietnam.
- The important scientific results of the project are new finding in Viet Nam and in the world, have been publised on SCIE journal to affirm Vietnamese scientific ability.
