Goal and objectives of the project

- Clarifying the causes of land degradation, focusing on human-caused land degradation in Binh - Tri - Thien.
- Build a database on types of land degradation in the study area.
- Propose solutions to prevent, improve and restore degraded land for sustainable exploitation of soil resources in Binh - Tri - Thien.

Main results

* Theoretical results:
- Investigate and evaluate types of land degradation and factors causing land degradation in Binh - Tri - Thien.
- Analysis and assessment of land degradation affecting land use in Binh - Tri - Thien.
- Proposing solutions to prevent, improve and restore degraded land for rational use of land resources in Binh - Tri - Thien.
- Database on land resources and land degradation with regional maps of 1/250,000 scale and provincial maps of 1/10,000 scale.
* Applied results:
- The results of the project will contribute to the development of a methodological system: systematic, integrated and multidisciplinary approach, economic - ecological - environmental approach in the management and rational use of land resources towards Sustainable Development.
- The results of the project contribute to the scientific basis for land use planning, limit resource degradation, contribute to poverty alleviation and sustainable socio-economic development.

Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results

- Identify typical forms of land degradation in Binh - Tri - Thien, thereby building a database on land resources and land degradation.
- Assess the impact of land degradation on some main land use types in combination with the results of the land assessment in order to propose solutions to prevent, improve and restore land for sustainable land use in Binh - Tri - Thien.
- Proposing a number of ecological economic models that contribute to the reasonable use of land resources, preventing land degradation and desertification in the Binh - Tri - Thien region.
