Project’s code | VAST04.04/21-22 |
Research hosting institution | Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources |
Project leader’s name | Trinh Quang Phap |
Project duration | 01/01/2021 - 31/12/2022 |
Project’s budget | 600 million VND |
Classify | Grade A |
Goal and objectives of the project | - Determination of plant parasitic nematode species composition at survey sites in Lam Dong
- Constructing a model of ecological transition of parasitic nematodes on crops in Lam Dong. |
Main results | - Theoretical results:
The total number of species recorded in Lam Dong so far is 107 species. There were recorded 38 species in this study and 23 species among them were first recorded for Lam Dong. One hundred slides of 38 species were completed and seven sequences of DNA (D2D3, ITS and 18S) of 4 species of plant nematodes were registered in GenBank.
The important group of plant parasitic nematodes that have the potential to cause damage to crops, especially coffee and vegetable crops, are the root-knot nematodes and the migrating endoparasitic nematodes.
Soil physico-chemical affecting nematodes such as pH, OM index and soil density were the strongest correlations with the density of groups of root-knot nematodes and migrating endoparasitic nematodes in the soil. The composition of plant parasitic nematodes was no significant difference between the 3 districts of Don Duong, Di Linh and Duc Trong. The vegetable host is the most susceptible to root-knot nematodes and migrating endoparasitic nematodes.
- Applied results:
The results are important data for the region orientating in the development of crops and agro-economic zones. That can be applied in the direction of science and technology deployment. Identifying plant parasitic nematodes species that are potentially cause damage to crops in the integrated control of plant parasitic nematodes and predicting outbreaks of each species for new cultivated crops. Besides, soil factors such as pH, organic content and soil density are also concerned in the cultivation process and pest management and minimizing chemical pesticide in agriculture. |
Novelty and actuality and scientific meaningfulness of the results | New recorded 03 species of plant parasitic nematodes in Vietnam and 01 species of entomopathogenic nematode that is capable of being used in integrated agricultural pest management. |

Research area | The results of the project are important data for Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in making forecasts and planning the province's crop areas. |
Recommendations | The project only represents 3 districts in 12 district-level units of Lam Dong in the restructuring of crops from forest - industrial plants - vegetables. Other crop transliterated models are still continuing currently in some districts, some other districts are having outbreaks of plant parasitic nematode diseases on many crops such as mulberry trees, medicinal plants ... need to continue to be implemented out of 13 crops have been studied for agricultural development in Lam Dong and Central Highlands in general. |
